I'M A DESIGNER!

smilez.co.uk/
I was approached a few weeks ago and asked if I would like to work with a company called SmileZ.
I've never worked professionally with anyone, I only began selling my illustration designs at the end of last year, so this was an incredibly exciting opportunity.
Lockdown has inspired this company to set up a digital card business, to allow people to send cards and positive messages instantly to each other, without the need for postage, packaging, and numerous trips to the Post Office.
Whilst I am a very tactile person and love to have postcards physically up around my room, I LOVE the idea of being able to send a positive message immediately, and for it to be accessible on-the-go.
After a week of signing contracts and editing my designs, I am  excited to announce that my designs are now available on their website, for you to send to loves ones as positive reminders when they need it!
I'm working around 10 hours a day at the moment, I'm working on some VERY exciting commissions, including children's books which have been my dream! I will of course upload pictures as and when I can/am allowed.
Some very exciting months ahead of University in September!

SHOES?!

I'm painting what?!
So without wanting to sound too desperate (I totally am, I'm eyeing up hostels as I type), I am currently saving up for my next adventure which will be to Phuket Island in Thailand, to volunteer at different animal shelters with elephants, dogs, gibbons and tigers!
But I don't have a Mary Poppins-style purse, so I am aiming to get as much work done as possible to save up for it.
Therefore I'd like to let you know that I'm selling customised plimsoles with ANY design you want (floral, princess, nautical, nature, animals etc)… for only £35 a pair!
You can also send me your own shoes if you would prefer, I love to paint Dr Martens so send me a message if you are interested in buying your own pair for me to customise!
All paints used are specialist shoe paints, they are waterproof and peel proof, suitable for leather and canvas.
Just send me a email if you are interested, and I will come up with some digital designs for you to decide on based on whatever theme you would like!

I've found my style!

This may or may not seem obvious to you from looking at my gallery page, but for years I've struggled to find my style; a style that reflects me not just as an artist, but as a person.
Well finally, it's happened! After just 2 weeks of picking up my watercolours for the first time in far too long, I just let the paint do what it wanted rather than viciously trying to control every movement. I love it! I'm naturally a bubbly and quirky person, so I like to think that my recent paintings reflect that.
I'm setting myself a goal to paint everyday as well as draw, because I'm so happy with the pieces I seem to be churning out at the moment! I also name them all and give them a written personality, you can read them on my facebook page and I will set up a way of showing them on this website, once I've worked out how to do that....

New Beginnings...

Finally after years of not knowing how to design my brand, I have created something that I feel finally reflects not just my Art, but my own unique personality.
Therefore this website may see quite a few drastic changes in the next few weeks whilst I manage to change EVERYTHING to my new design.
However in the process, my Etsy Store is now open, and please follow my Facebook page for regular updates and pictures of my creative process, I love sharing it with you all.
I am selling Art prints, Greetings cards and little crafts, with the intention of creating more merchandise soon once I've done a few more designs and got back on track with drawing and painting. I am still accepting commissions for Christmas, so get your orders in before time runs out!

Wall Mural!

Whew.
This week has been a busy one to put it simply, I don't think I've sat down much at all!
I've been given the amazing opportunity to paint the Sensory Tunnel at the Guide Dog Training School in Leamington Spa, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it! What used to be a dark, quite intimidating corner of the training garage, is now a bright and inviting space, with a very happy looking dog painting on the side of it. It is still work in progress, but I'd consider it a huge amount of progress in just two days of work on it - I never knew I could measure and paint that quickly!
Very proud of it so far, and I'm glad that it has opened up more opportunites to paint wall murals for other places, as I love creating art on a bigger scale!

On Sunday 4th December, the Training School in Leamington are hosting their annual Christmas Fair. I've decided to have a stall to sell all sorts of handmade Christmas gifts, from felt decorations to Christmas cards, notebooks to ear warmers.
If you live in the area or fancy a day out, it's definitely worth going to, even just to meet our dogs and puppies!

Elephants, Elephants and more elephants!

Over the past few weeks I have been drawing and painting a lot of elephants for personal presents, and may I just say that I do not want to paint or draw another one for quite a while! I absolutely love elephants and I  do think they are one of the most regal animals to study, but I think now that I can draw one with my eyes closed, it is certainly time for a break. What to draw next? I have also drawn 2 unicorns which were very pretty, so maybe I'll do some creative children's art next, try a new style maybe?

I have recently been experimenting more with my drawing style, and I have found a new style that I LOVE. Yes it does take a long time to complete these but I think it is well worth the wait! It feels so much more alive than I thought it would when I started it.
